I just recently had the intake gasket on an Escalade replaced; I went to get the fuel injectors cleaned and heard a knock. I had just had the oil changed two days ago. As my car was running the fuel injector cleaner through...the knock seemed to get worse and before I knew it...the engine had stopped. Okay...so should (or can I) rebuild the motor that's in their with a rebuild kit? Or should I just find another motor?
Mind you, before the intake gasket installation, the car had sat up for about a year. The reason it sat up was because it ran hot and I drove it about 2-3 more miles to get to the house...hey, I have to be honest to get a correct diagnoses.

Nothing will be cheaper and faster than dropping in another motor. You can find an LQ9 just about anyplace.

Well first I would want to know if something wound up in the engine when the intake manifold was worked on.

Why did the engine stop? If you repair or replace the engine have the heads pulled and see if a foreign object (bolt or nut) got lodged in there.

A vehicle that is sitting just for a year is not going to develop those kinds of symptoms.

It could be the mechanics fault.

I would go to salvage yard and buy a reasonably low mileage engine from a wreck. The swap should be reasonably simply but work intensive. When I remove an engine, I always use masking tape to identify all wires and vacuum hoses. I also make a numbered checklist of these wires and hoses. It's a good checklist when re-hooking everything.

Well you pretty much summed that one up,the engine ran hot for 2 or three miles previously then sat.It was on its way out.i recommend another motor, good used one or a remanufactured. That way you have warranty. If you run a engine too long when its hot unfortunately you will kill it.Hope this helped you
