The problem with libraries and Scott Westerfeld is that most of the time, his books are checked out with a waiting list. I'm waiting to read the third book in the Midnighters series myself. I ended up buying all of these books because they were good and I knew they'd be good. Pretties released as a paperback so it should be available at most stores relatively affordable. You could try used copies at Amazon or half.com or at your local used bookstore if you like. Again the problem may be...since the books are both a) good and b) popular you might have to search a bit (at least if you go the in-person route) before you find them. I have found buying used books online particularly paperbacks that sometimes it's just as affordable to buy them new once you take into account the charges for shipping and handling. Often the difference will be a dollar or two.

well, its time to learn how to use ebay.

Actually, ebay has a sister site called half.com. It doesn't use bidding, and its a better way to find books there.
