yes. if scientists knew more about quantum mechanics they could use it in "space mechanics" which is basically general relativity. some limited work has been done here, such as hawking radiation. scientists are working on theories that will explain both quantum mechanics and general relativity, but it will still be quite a time before any solid answer can be known.
