a carpet is a good insulator of heat (doesnt let heat pass thru it)
when you stand on a carpet, your body heat doesnt pass thru it, therefore you feel warm.

a tiled floor is not a very good insulator. your body heat escapes into the floor from your feet. since you lose heat, you feel cooler.

The density of the material affects the length of time it takes to change and adapt to its surrounding temperatures. Stone is thicker and takes longer to heat up and cool down along with the area around it. If you were to feel the bottom of the carpet you would find that is is probably just as cold as the stone. The surface (top) of the carpet closes to the heat absorbs its surrounding temperature quicker because it is of a softer material.

The tile floor makes full contact with the bottom of your feet and begins carrying away heat as soon as you step on it.
The carpet is loose and contains air pockets that insulate the feet. The heat doesn't get carried away as quickly.

They are the same temperature, colder than your feet. The stone is denser, since the carpet contains air. Although they are both poor conductors of heat, on the stone, there is more mass drawing heat from the feet.

i'd prefer hardwood flooring because of the fact the front room is a severe-site visitors section and that way you will no longer could problem approximately cleansing your carpets, and in case you have young ones and are afraid they're going to harm themselves on the hardwood flooring then you definately can get a rug or carpet
