MY FAVORITE PIZZA PLACE CLOSED!!!
(Deeply sad little weeping sounds heard in the distance...)

I am a diabetic, and have to really watch my carbohydrate intake... but Gary's Pizza in Abilene, TX had a wonderful salad bar and buffet. It was a mom and pop place - not a chain.

Gary used low wheat gluten dough, WHOLE stone ground wheat dough - and even had a funny "NO crust pizza" that was all your favorite toppings in a metal bowl. Sounds weird... but it was actually wonderful!

The interior room was beautifully painted to make you feel like you were dining al fresco in some Italian countryside.

Gary's ovens broke down and the repair costs were staggering - but he reopened... then the ovens went down again - and two repairs were just too much. He had to close.

(Sound of more weeping... poor me!)

Now we are left with all the high carb chain outfits - and my blood sugar just can't take it. No more Pizza for me! :(

Peace darlin. --De

Actually we went to Lamppost Pizza last night. I had not been there in a very long time. They have an awesome trivia game that people all over the U.S. are playing at the same time, so you are competing not just against the people at you location, but all over the place. The questions appear on a TV screen and you answer using a hand held device. Had a great time!

We have been getting Papa Murphy's a lot lately, a chain of pizza stores. I'm not sure how broad they are as far as locations, but there are a few here in our area.
Get what you want on it, take it home and bake it yourself. Comes out hot and fresh, and you didn't sit there eating cardboard that sat in some teenager's car for 20 minutes while he tried to find your house.
