Harry Truman had a sign on his desk, "The Buck Stops Here", meaning he was responsible for everything. Our current appointed president puts the blame on others. In answer to your question, yes he should know exactly what is going on in all facets of the federal government.

Well, when you have a president who admits to NOT watching news programs, NOT reading newspapers, and who has never had to live in the REAL world, you could say he is blameless. Then again you could also say that he is an idiot for not keeping up with what people in the real world actually think.
His advisers can do only so much. If they are speaking to a person, who only listens to the little voices (that tell him he is right, there is nothing wrong in the world) in his own head, and doesn't care about what anyone else thinks, they might as well be talking to the statue of Lincoln. But, then again, if all they do is agree with his rantings and do not tell him facts, they are just his "YES" men and have just as little intelligence as he does.

No, the President of the USA should not know too much.
If the President of the USA is aware of everything these bad things will happen:
1. No 9/11
2. No Iraq war
3. Gas price stay below $2/gal
4. No bird flu threat from China...after Rummy visited China
5. Cheney might have to face criminal charge for being drunk while hunting in TX
6. No 3000+ dead US soldiers
7. No 25,000+ wounded US soldiers
= No 150% jump for Lock Heed Int.
= No $400 retirement bonus for Exxon CEO

sure it would be a good idea for the president to know what is going on but sense there is now way we can send him into a country to do the spying. he has to depend on his advisers. Just like any other president. be it the president of a country or a company. they all have to depend on there advisers to know what is going on out there. there responsibilities far out reach there ability to know everything so they hire people that will find the answers there looking for and report back to them. Everyone believed the WMD's report not just Bush. The advisers used the wire tapping to find information that you all want them to have but refuse to give them the power to obtain. and the prison abuse is nothing compared to what our pow's go through its just a big deal because its not the way we want to do things. but compared to what our men a women go threw in the pow camps of other nations and other forces we are very mildly abusing prisoners.

The President is not god. He cannot possibly know everything that is going on at any given time.
In terms of blame though, ignorance is no excuse. The President is ultimately responsible for everything done by his administration.

Of course he knew. If repugs really had any integrity, Bushie would have been impeached in '03. What he has lied about is more related to his job then Monica or Whitewater.
Bush's own quotes prove his lies. The "man" is pathetic and his followers pure lemmings.
