Yes, but more typically the Board/Agency governing licensing to such professionals recommends counseling and, often, a temporarily suspended license, with the authority to revisit dropping the suspension in the future.

why should they lose their license ?? unless the person is mentally unstable -- it is not against the law to attempt to kill yourself = and if a professional--such as a Dr==Lawyer--and so forth does commit a crime and is jailed because of it ==he/she may lose their license but then can re apply for it and can practice again - and will get it--but if a police officer is arrested and found guilty he can never participate in law enforcement again--tell me why?? if the Dr or Lawyer learned his lesson--why didn't the Police Officer?? Confuses me --how about you???

I doubt they would automatically lose their license. If someone reports the suicide attempt to the licensing board they will most likely require the person to undergo counseling.

This makes sense. A true professional wouldn't "attempt" suicide. They'd get it right the first time. As such, if they attempted and failed, I don't want them as my doctor or pharamacist on the grounds that they could just as easily flub up my needs, which couldn't possibly be as important as their needs.

interesting question.......I've never known a Pharmacist that has attempted suicide. They have all succeeded.

After all, we have the second highest suicide rate (distant second behind cops).
