Hello everyone, last night my nine month old was up every hour or every other hour. She is very stopped up in the nasal passage and she wont take much of a bottle because of her not being able to breathe. I feel so sorry for her yet i just wanna scream because it seems so rediculous. I have a vaporizer and a humidifier andi am using them i just want her to sleep good and so that way i can get sleep also. This is actually worse then when i brought her home from the hospital. Thank all!

Use the saline drops and nasal aspirator. There is a Tylenol cold and cough for infants. My pediatrician has recommended this for my baby. Use the humidifier with her bedroom door closed. If she won't take the bottle then give her liquid using a dropper....all day long....if you can lots of liquid it will thin out her secretions. She may have an ear infection if she was up so often.....may be time to go to the Dr. Since it's Sunday, look for a children's urgent care in your area. Sorry...having a sick baby is worse than being sick yourself :(

The humidifier is a great start. And I agree with those who recommended saline drops and a snot sucker. Your little girl won't like it, but it works. There are also infant decongestants out there that are safe if used in the proper dose. And I would definitely check her temperature and give her some baby Tylenol if she has a fever.
If she's really fussy, it's possible she also has an ear infection. They come with colds pretty commonly, and babies won't always give you the classic signs (ear-pulling, etc.). If she continues refusing food, acting super-fussy, or just seeming awfully sick to you, take her to the doctor. It can't hurt. Go with your gut on it.

Nasal washes work well. Use a few drops of otc saline in her nostrils. This helps to loosen the mucus and you can suction it out better. Keep up the humidifer. I would recommend the drops right before eating and bedtime to help. At night try to elevate her head by putting something under her mattress. This helps a little too.

If you have any kind of small chair your baby can lie in safely, sit her upright in the chair. Then roll up some blankets to put on the sides of her so she doesn't fall over and see if she can't fall asleep that way. When I brought my first baby (now four-years-old) home from the hospital we both had a cold. She spent the first week sleeping in a small chair and it worked great!

Have you cleared her nose with a "snot sucker"? (It is the rubber bulb with the long stem you probably brought home from the hospital with her)

You can buy infant's saline solution, spray some up her nostrils and then use the snot sucker to suck the snot out. You can also use it without the saline solution.

Whatever you do, please do not give her cold/congestion medicine. Thousands of babies die every year from cold medicine. You might want to try infant tylenol if you think she is fussy from being achy and sick.

Good luck!

nasal drops should help some. you can get them at any drug store. ask your pharmasist if there is anything over the counter that is safe to give her as well.try suctioning her nose too. hope she feels better.
edit - you said she was in the hospital. if she was in for the same thing i would talk to the doc. could she have allergies?

She should be kept at the hospital until she is much better. They have the best equipment and medications there to help her. Insist on this and don't give up.

young children are very prone to disease, you may want to consider taking your daughter to a hospital, just to be sure that she is okay. It is better to be safe than sorry.
