content analysis is the first step of a science lesson plan. as its name suggest in content analysis we analyse the whole content that we are going to teach in a lesson. the trick is to divide ur lesson in teaching points and then subdividing and analysing each teaching point further in sub-teaching points. you can prepare content analysis by two methods. first writing the analysis in points and second making a flow chart. lets take the example of phy.consider that ur topic is electricity and u are teaching in 8th std.
in pts-
1. concept of electricity
2. def of electric current
3.unit of electric current
4.def of potential
5.def of potential difference
6. experimental verification of ohms law
7. statement of ohms law
see here your content is being analysed as you proceed in your lesson. taking each teaching point and then subdividing each teaching point in sub teaching points if they can be divided.
similarly u can present ur content analysis in the form of flow chart.
students previous knowledge is not included in content analysis. only the content you are going to teach in class is included.

Content analysis is high level thinking skill and comes after knowledge, comprehension and application. It involves taking something apart, looking at the pieces and then making a response. Students should be able to examine facts and characteristics of each individual, then put the information together in an understandable comparison. For eg
Give the points of differences between acids and bases.
If students have perfect comprehension of acids and bases both, they should be able to give you many points of differences besides definitions and examples of acids and bases.
What's your content?
