the movie titled "volcano" its better than dantes peak but still pretty lame

I would suggest to get some more factual info about Volcanoes to see if there is a documentary on Pompeii.
There was definitely one done about Krakatoa, it was half doco half movie.
Because Volcano and Dante's Peak are just films, No one in the films really know anything about real volcanoes and they aren't very factual but Dante's Peak has more of a chance to be because Pierce Brosnan's character is a Dr and Tommy Lee Jones is just some Crisis control guy in L.A.
