sorry not enough room, could we gain 99.99999999999 speed of light without exponential inflation on the mass.

I guess what I mean is, if we could desighn a way to eliminate inertia from our fictional craft, could we then bypass the problem of needing almost infinate energy to move almost the speed of light. 99.9999 ect.

There are certainly a lot of ducks when it comes to the speed of light...quack, quack, ....

First, there is a WAG, not even a bona fide theory, about the existence of an antigravity particle, It has to do with super symmetry, which includes the idea that for every particle there is an antiparticle. Of course a major drawback here, when it concerns gravity, is that the gravity particle, called a graviton, let alone the antigravity particle has never been found. It remains just a WAG...a spin off of string theory and other exotic theories.

Second, the existence or non existence of gravity has nothing to do with the speed of light limit. Inertial rest mass (m) is limited to below the speed of light (v < c) because, at the speed of light (v = c), the inertia of that mass would be infinite. And a mass with infinite inertia cannot be accelerated any more because it would take an infinite force to do it. This follows from F = Ma and a = M/F, where M = infinite mass inertia. Notice that gravitational forces are not a part of this relationship.

Now, having knocked down your proposal, if we could remove inertia (not gravity) from a rest mass (m), then that could be accelerated to as fast as we wanted. All we would need to do is apply even a small force for a very long time and that mass would accelerate the entire time. So we'd have a = m/f and from v = u + at velocity would approach and surpass c given t (time) was long enough. But in reality, inertia is a little understood physical phenomenon and I know of no theories that suggest inertia can be removed from matter.

I'm not too sure about exponential inflation, how ever The speed of light can be surpassed. Of course it will not be turning on a light switch and presto you are there but gradually. Anti-gravity already exists. Element 115 and or 118. These will be used in the near future to propel help propel massive objects of to space. once in space, I believe that one single blast of the 118 element will Carry the object to its destination. Several consecutive blasts will the be used to attain the fore mentioned Speed. Hope this helps, at least in part. Will.
