There's a little battery operated device that you can get called a fabric shaver from a fabric store or any drug store-that sells small items for the house that removes pills off clothes. I have one and it works beautifully since it makes your clothes look cleaner and lasts longer since pills can cause rips and tears in your clothes if it snags on something. I have two one for clothes and and a large one for comforters and larger items.

I agree with the shaver method. I use the same shaver I would use to shave my legs. Why pay $$$ for those pricey devices??? Plus I'm sure this isn't something you do EVERY day so why pay $20 for something you'll only use once in a while?

A fabric shaver works good for that, they don't cost much, run on 2 AA batteries. you basically find them everywhere.
