It all comes down to personal preference. Take your time in inspecting the guitar. Play with all the nobs and switches to make sure there is not a lot of crackling. Look down the fretboard to make sure all the frets are even and there is no warping. Tune it up and stretch the strings out a bit then tune it again, (you know the drill). Play every single fret to check for buzzing. Listen closely to make sure the intonation is right-on. Don't be afraid to play each of your selections for 10 or 15 minutes each. If any of the clerks give you some flack, just flash them some cash and tell them ur gonna make damn sure you get what you are looking for. Go for what feels the best and sounds the best to you. Smoothest action and Crispest tones. Good-luck bro!

if the jackson comes with a floyd rose tremolo ...then I would go for the jackson..I play jackson dinkies it came with a floyd rose tremolo
also if the jackson comes with humbuckers and single coils.. you can get the sound of the gibsons humbuckers and fenders single coil punch...
