I have been thinking about this a lot lately. I am very fortunate in that I will be able to retire before 60 - not that many years away! I plan to work part time in a job completely different from the professional field in which I work. I want to work with people for the pure fun of it - not for a paycheck. My husband and I also plan to buy a second home somewhere on the ocean and live there part of the year. Working 50 hours a week for almost 40 years has finally paid off!

First of all you must think about keeping yourself fit by going for regular walks, medical check-up and taking the prescribed medicines.
If you had cultivated a hobby in working-life, then you will not even realise that the retirement-life has started, for the serious pursuit of that hobby will not make you aware of the time spent daily.
If you do not have a hobby, and you are financially secure than you should think about giving back to society in whatever way you can, financial support to the needy, free tutions to the economically-weak, social work, etc.
If you are the aggressive type than you should take up local social issues for the benefit of the community without fright or fear.

To spend the retired life better You should do the following :-
First - Whatever wealth in the form of movable and immovable property you have, distribute some part of it amongst your sons and keep something which is minimum required for your own use and your wife's use for the rest of your life.
Second:- Tell clearly your children that whole active life is devoted by you in their nourishment and creation of their life and future. But now they should leave you free to lead the future life in your own way.
Third :- Make a VASIYATNAMA (Testament) explaining how your property should be distributed amongst your children etc. and do not forget to get registered before SDM. Further the witness in the testament should be your trusted person and he should have been loyal to you in real life.
Fourth:- You should make the details of your unfulfilled dreams or desires which you cherished in your active life from childhoold to till date. Make point wise list.
Fifth : Now see that with the resources available and the intensity of desire to fulfill them ,matches or not. If matches, set these your goals.
Sixth :-Last but not least, you should also see overall that what the society has given you in your life time , you should return something back to the society.
Seventh : Uptill now you were living for your family; but now onward you should live for your society, your state, your country ........

Buy a house in countryside. Go organic grow your own veg and chickens. I'm in my thirty now. That's my idea of retirement. Get away from city altogether. Listen to the song of birds and feel the fresh air, oh that is heaven eh.

Retirement from service does not mean retirement from life.
Make agenda and achieve the same and remain busy. Join age-max group in Yahoo groups.

most of the time you should spend with your family.especially with your grand children. and you have to travel, not for the world tour but to the religious places mostly. this helps you to keep your mind peaceful and you feel pure at your heart and which inturn helps you to regain your strength.
