Okay, I'm an 'old lady' ... 56 ... and I've seen a lot of 'life' and a lot of different kinds of 'love' in my life. I've been in several 'long term relationships (married a couple of them, too) and now am married to my 'one and only' for the past ten years. I'm seven years older than he is, so there's no way we could have been 'high school sweethearts' ... but that is how we look when we walk down the streets, holding hands, laughing, and talking almost constantly. The 'path of love' is both 'rocky and hard' at times, and 'smooth and easy at times.' The 'biggest difference before all of my 'other' loves and the one I'm now married to forever and beyond is that he and I were 'friends' first, then best friends, and finally became 'lovers' while staying best friends ... but since I didn't 'read him' right, and he 'forgot to tell me about it' we were actually going together for a full day before I realized we were. Yes, we've had a few 'really bad arguments' and have even come close to 'breaking up' three times ... but each time we 'talked' ... which means that we both 'listened' as well as both had something to 'say to' the other. Nowadays, our 'fights' are usually 'put on' when we are out because we like to 'be outrageous' ... we also 'put on' about me being his girlfriend and he's got a wife, or him being my boyfriend and I have a husband, or both ... because to us, we are both 'husband and wife' and 'boyfriend and girlfriend' and we will always be BEST FRIENDS who can talk about EVERYTHING ... from the 'tiny little stuff' to the 'world issues' and religion, politics ... even the weather and the 'colors of the sky outside.'
Neither of us have many other 'friends' to come visit us ... but that is because neither of us really likes to have other people come to our home, although we've had them in the past and may have them again in the future. We both have people we see 'regularly' outside our home ... but no one whom we would rather 'be with' than each other. It's that 'being each other's best friends' and still being 'lovers' that makes our relationship so good ... and that, I think is what you should 'look for' in your relationship ... but if you don't get it until you are 'older' then you should still have 'relationships' because it's all a 'learning experience' and you'll be 'better able to KNOW' when you meet your 'one and only love of your lifetime' ... and I hope that you do, someday. But if you don't ... then you should 'have some fun' along the way, along with some 'tears' ... and sometimes those tears are from 'sadness' but sometimes they are from 'great happiness' ... and that is called 'having a good life' and trying to be a 'good person' and 'learn' for your whole life long.

Yes, it can be slick and smooth and hard and demanding all at the same time. It is nothing to fear as all tensions and anxieties can go away if its done right by an experienced practitioner.

I slid on my *** down the path of love through lots of thorny bushes and sharp rocks. Let's just say, I've had a lot of bad luck in that department.
