Hi Maltese,

We love TIVO. The simplicity makes it a pleasure to program, the ability to pause live TV is great. No more missing a show because of an interruption, The season pass feature allows you to record every episode of a show for an entire season with a single click.

I could go on forever but I honestly believe except for the monthly fee there isn't much bad you can say about TIVO. It is far advanced from the cable company DVR's

We have two TIVOs. One with the lifetime subscription which is no longer available and one monthly (actually yearly) pay.

I love Tivo. I've had mine since about 2003. I've upgraded the box with a larger 160gb to store more programming. The Tivo is very reliable and has 'smart' recording that knows what episodes are new and when a show is a rerun. The Tivo works a lot better than the box we had from our cable company. The interface on the Tivo is a lot more intuitive compared to the cable company's DVR, which seemed 'clunky' and awkward to use. Home network features allow you to download television shows from your Tivo to your PC as well as stream music and photos from your PC to your Tivo.

When I bought our Tivo, they offered a Lifetime Service for $299 that meant you never had to pay service fees. Now, they have stopped offering this which means Tivo is less competitive as compared with a cable company's DVR or a Windows Media Cetner PC.

Hubby and I switched from TiVO to DVR and let me tell you - there is a huge difference between the two. As everyone else has said here, make shure you go with a TiVO.
We are going back to TiVO - and I can't wait - I really miss the little extras and I have to say, I miss the sound effects!

TiVo is the best!

It's been one of the better inventions as far as I'm concerned. I watch a lot of TV, or like to watch a lot of things that are on TV, but don't always remember when they are on, and sometimes i like to sit around and like movies and don't want to miss a TV show. With TIVo I can preset all the TV shows that I was, you get what's called a pass, and the shows just record each week, you don't have to think about it. Then you watch the shows when you want, fast forward through the commercials, and you can watch a movie while the TV records your shows. If you go away, you get your TV shows, so much easier than programming a video or dvd. And as it's a hard drive disc, it holds a hell of a lot of TV. Ok, it costs money to get the service, but a lot of good things in life aren't free.

I have TiVo and love it. It is more user friendly than the DVRs that come on satellite and cable, and it has many more features, and they have great customer service too. I was able to negotiate my rate down after having it for a couple of years when I told them I was going to the competitors, they lowered by rate down to lower than the competitors.

my personally i love tivo its the best thing they have ever made for TV. first you can pause live TV and you can go to the bathroom and come back and start where you left off. and when you pause that means you have time to fast forward. also if theres nothing on TV you can watch something you recorded or if it's on to late just record it
