I have found a studio and am planning to ask if I can take private lessons over the summer to castch up to my age group. I am a very determined person; if I want something I will achieve it. If I get a careeer in dance then i would like to actually be dancing-anything from a Rockette to a ballerina. I have taken about a half of a year in jazz,so while I am a beginner, I am not entirely new.

I am turning 14 soon also, and I have been dancing for a bit more than 10 years. You say you want to catch up to our age group, but actually, there is no specific level for our age group. Most people I know that have been taking ballet for a while are starting pointe. If you want to catch up, to most people it will probably take more than one summer unless you take classes every day. I would definitely say no age is too late, but it will take a LOT of hard work to get where you want to go. You will need to work on flexibility, positioning, and turnout a lot. If you are a quick learner, the many French positions should be easy to copy, but in a regular class with many other dancers the teacher will probably expect you to know the positions and technique for many different things. If you really want something, go get it!

Dance is something you have to start out young ... you might not want to start working professionally yet, but taking lessons now would be a good idea to give you the experience you need and so you can find out if it's really what you want to do as a career or just for fun. Even to get started once you're in highschool you should go out for the dance team ...

I really admire you... at 13 you already know what you want! Go for it and don't hesitate! If you're determined, nothing can stop you... At 18, I still don't know what i want to do and i can do nothing well.. so i really encourage you..

Fix yourself a goal and work for it!!! no matter how many obstacles you may find, overcome them with your hard work and determination, the rewards will come later as self-satisfaction... Its motivation that counts...

Really, i wish you good luck and know that if you work hard, no matter what, you will succeed!
