Advertising is expensive when you want it to reach the greatest number of people. Consider the expense of putting an advertisement in TIME magazine or 20 seconds on prime time TV. Bombings in crowded markets are another form of advertising but it is so much cheaper and easier. A few cents at most for the bomb and the detonator. A few more cents for the bus ride to the market and a someone who will do the job without wages or dental plan. So one thing it accomplishes is a cost effective way of getting prime sites in the media. Beyond that, I am still scratching my head.

...as it has been for many many many centuries now....it's all about a religious war... caused by those that are brainwashed into believing that they will become a martyr (or saintlike) after giving up their life for their God...
Not all, but Most have the common sense enough to know that NO TRUE GOD wouldt want murder or suicide to be committed.
Religious wars they are, but these acts also derive also from greed to gain power and control over natural resources (oil, gas, nuclear...etc.).
Also you need to take a look at Israel for example...They've been trying to find a home for many centuries, hence they've been moved from territory to territory just to try and find a home for themselves.
Though most of us all know it is senseless to make a sacrifice such as this....
but I think the main equation here is:
radicals + extremists + sectarians + insurgents = Terrorism to gain control (In which, to create fear to maintain that control...)

A fit that is publicized at the cost of innocent lives.
I've seen toddlers throw their cereal on the floor because there parent told them they couldn't have sugar on it. All we can do is clean up the mess and be diligent.
If it were up to me....if any of them were caught immediately I'd make them clean up, pay the medical bills, rebuild and pay back the insurance co, bury the dead and watch the natural consequences occur including having a session with each of injured victims or deceased family members.

It makes Americans back here want to back away from Muslim terrorists.
It is a mind game the Muslim terrorists understand.
They know there are enough Americans here who when seeing this will want us to leave. There by they get control of the country.
Some Americans don't have the stomach for war and Muslim Terrorists know it. So they show a few innocent victims make a big deal out of Abu Grab and those Americans will cause enough of stink to think about having us leave.
In short the Democrats are playing into their hands.
You won't hear them admit it because all they care about is making Bush look bad.

It accomplishs what the people do it FOR !!
murder---bloodshed---retaliation---fear---and the joy of another successful personal triumph in their ongoing blood feud !!!
There are thousands of reasons for this-- and each of them is very personal to each of the lunatics envolved in doing these things--- some do it out of their own brand or vision of their religious thoughts--- others do it for the "pay back" of other incidences that have happened to them--- etc etc etc----and it is ongoing--- it will never cease--- it has been going on for centuries and it will not ever end--- it is a "way of life" for them and to be blunt here---- The ones that do this sort of thing simply couldn't COPE WITH PEACE !!!!!!! That is totally out of the question!!!!

The demented reasoning behind such acts is this. The terrorists want to keep people feeling frightened and keep reinforcing the fact that their government cannot protect them. This is designed to undermine the legitimate government and force cooperation with the terrorists.

Killing the Innocent people of their own country breeds fear and miss trust in all Iraqi's for all Iraqi's. In this way the insurgents stay in control because they control fear.
