To me, all material things are simply a distraction from the human being's true nature. While it is true that we need to take care of our bodies by clothing and feeding them, and that we need to work and make money to do that, life is really all about Love. I'm not just talking about romantic love here. But True Love for all the people we come into contact with. We have the unique ability to choose our paths and to choose to recognize our similarities with other people who might seem different at first glance. We have the choice to love each person we meet because we know that we share a common thread: the soul.
Happiness comes from a choice to love.

all human beings basic requirement to be happy is to have Love. Not passionate love. But love that shows mutual respect for your special someone. True love is respect, honesty, companionship, trust, and knowing that he or she is there for you unconditionally.
If you have all that then you have found true happiness, because then you share your good times, and bad times together. You enjoy playing games and going out with each other. You mentioned clothing. If you have all the clothing you want but no one to admire you and compliment you on how great you look the clothing does not bring you happiness. But knowing your special someone desires you, and wants you any way, shape, or form you come in that is true happiness. Because of that your physical passion for each other comes automatically.
With out true, unconditional love, all the other material things do not bring you happiness, for they are only "things"
So to answer your question, the minimum basic requirement to live a happy life is Love, the kind of love I described above. Unconditional love is basic.

My first thought was money. Then I thought about it. I'd have to say excellent friends and family, & significant other. A job I don't think of as the root of all evil (like my current one). Decent heath insurance and a nice salary. One which would allow me to be comfortable and not worry about paying the necessities like rent, food, etc...I never want o be filthy rich, but I'd like to be able to take a vacation once in a while. Those are the things that would make me happy. I have great friends and a wonderful boyfriend. Now all I need to work on is a job that I don't hate that pays a decent (livable) salary. This way I can be happy and not loose sleep worrying about how I am going to make my pathetic salary cover all expenses.

I Think this means that regardless of you situation such as being rich, poor, middle class, or whatever, that there is a basic list of things that everyone needs to be happy. You can be poor and almost not have anything, but maybe if you have family or your most prized possession, then ur happy. What I want to be happy is a companion. It doesn't even have to be a male companion it could be a dog or my best female friend. Just someone to have fun with, listen to me, and spend time with.
