13 + x = 4 + (27 + x)/2

Arnel must be 22 and his brother must be 36

9 years must pass

in 9 years arnel will be 22 and his brother 36

36/2 = 18 + 4 = 22

the reason being 13 + x = (27 + x / 2) + 4

do the algebra x = 9
x = years

i would use trial and error, continously check each year and see if it is correct eg. arnel=14, his bro=28, wrong
arnel=16, his bro =30 wrong
arnel=18, his bro =32 wrong
arnel=20, his bro =34 wrong (34 divide by 2 =17)
arnel=22, his bro =36 correct (36 divided by 2 = 18 (+4=22))
so 22-13= 9 years
