Hi
see here my friend:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philosophy
Philisophy is a belief one carries:
http://www.objectivistcenter.org/cth-32-409-FAQ_Philosophy.aspx
Philosophy studies the fundamental nature of existence, of man, and of man's relationship to existence. … In the realm of cognition, the special sciences are the trees, but philosophy is the soil which makes the forest possible.
Good luck, any more questions on this then mail me

Philosophy may be the daring to question why, what, or how. Philosophy may be the search of truth. Perhaps philosophy is a tool to finely detail an Idea of what is true. It may be the thought of what truth should be, How it might be possible and why it may be necessary to be understood to be true. It could be a cruel joke we play over and over again to always second guess ourselves, but what it will always be is the question.

Philosophy is the study of human wisdom. Two or more premises dissolved using reasoning and logic until a concussion is reached.
It is the core and genesis of all science and mathematics. Indeed many a philosopher has been a mathematician.
What it is not:
belief
myth
religion
agony aunt
a person saying what they think

Well aren't you the inquiring type.
Rather than give you a defintion, I'll tell you what philosophy is not.
It's not my philosophy to have no philosophy.
But if you insist,
Philosophy is a means to an end, and usually knows what that end will be like.

I like to think of it as kindergarten for questions. Some grow up and become proper theories ie find a use such as mathematics and biology and maybe the arts. Other questions just get stuck there ie metaphysics. Sometimes they seem to grow up a start explaining something useful, but get relegated back as times change (theology).
I think by definition it currently includes: Metaphysics, Logic, Ethics, Theology and maybe politics.

philosophy maybe the psychology behind sociology, to interperate
the way life can be approached ,grouping the opinions of people with independent views (some very PURE thinkers) helping to clear the blinkers of clouded judgement.

it comes from Latin philo-love, sophia-wisdom...
in fact it's just a way of spending time of those ho have nothing else to do...or the best way to accede at the metaphysics level!but can be a sort of wisdom in fact you Can find it very interesting in some parts....it can give you a goal to you're meaning in life ....just beware who you listen!
