I know that in construction, the pythagorean theorem can be very useful. If you want to make sure that something is square, measure off 3 inches, feet or whatever on one side, 4 on the other, and if you connect the ends and get 5, you have a right angle and it's square. That's just one use I know right off the top of my head...

You will use it in physics when you want to find the magnitude and direction of a force that is the combination of two other forces, ect. pretty much you use it for vectors...then you use it for trig and calculus...it's what the Advance Placement test in Calculus is all about...
