No that was not the lowest point. That was an illconceived attempt by WCW and AOL Time-Warner to cash in on their movie "Ready to Rumble." If they had not tried to push that movie over the edge and instead allowed WCW a little more time to bounce back from two years of lousy booking, it might have been a success. I like to compare it to a trick play in football, if the play works and the team scores, the coach is a genius, but if it fails and the team loses, he is a goat and that is the worst call in history.

The lowest point for me in WCW in when Goldberg faced Meng in the main event on Nitro. I do not remeber exactly what the date was, but I believe it was October of 1998. The show had no action. Every match had a "boring" chant in it. Then the main event came around. I thought it would be schmoz and someone would interfere to set up a feud with Goldberg for the next PPV or so. Instead they allowed the match to continue to the end, and even tried to build Meng up throughout the show.

A close second I can remember is Spring Stampede in April of 1998. It is the one with a four way match between Sting, Nash, DDP, and Hogan. The match and feud had actually not set up until the Nitro before the PPV. They had 5 weeks to set up what could have been a pretty good match, but instead fumbled around until the last minute and threw this match together. I can remember the main event of Nitro being Nash and maybe Hall, the nWo black and white shows up and the referee calls for the bell. Then DDP comes to the ring followed by Sting coming out of the ceiling (again, yes with the bat). He gets into the ring and points at the television screen. After about a 1-2 minute delay and shoddy camera angles. The screen advertises the main event with the Macho Man doing a voice over. Then at the end he advertises himself as the referee. The show ended there. If you watched this Nitro, you knew that WCW was fresh out of ideas, and bad days were coming.

That was the beginning of the end. That is when Bischoff was spending all that money on celebs to come in and they were all a waster of air time. Arquette was horrible and is horrible.
