People have all kinds of names for these little bugs. I call them flour bugs myself. They actually are eggs in the dry flour and dry flour products. They hatch when stored long. But, when you use the product right away, they never get a chance to hatch and are cooked untill dead. Gross, but true. But, if they start hatching, they go around and lay eggs in all your other dry stuff. I keep all my boxed and bagged groceries in the same cupboard. Canned and jar'ed in another. That way, if I ever do get them, it just seems easier to me to clean up. One way to help prevent this from happening is to buy plastic sealed containers to store your stuff in. Like if your single and the cereal last a long time, put in a container. If it does happen again, just throw that container out. Don't worry, everyone has gotten them at one time or another. No big deal except for tossing some food away.

Throw every thing in you pantry, wash down your pantry with mild solution of bleach and water. Any new cereal and pasta or any dry goods I put in the freezer for at least 24 hrs to kill the bugs! I like to keep my cereal in the freezer cause it keeps the milk cold longer. (very good) Also the raisins in bran do not get too hard if frozen , so you can eat it cold. I store my suger and flour in the freezer ALL the time. Especially in humid weather.

Part of the problem is that weevils(or millbugs) those little black bugs that get into your food are attracted to grains and grain based food. You should try storing your cereal in sealable containers or containers with locking tops. That keeps them out of your food and if they're infesting your cabinets vaccum it out completely and if you have a bread box put the bread when you get half way down the loaf in a large ziploc bag that keeps them out if you store bread in a bread box on the counter. Weevils are annoying because they cause you to have to throw out good food when they start laying their larvae in your food. If you see small maggots that maybe a sign of infestation. Just keep the cabinets clean and your food in closable containers and it should get rid of them or eliminate them entirely. They seem to be a problem more in the spring and summer than fall and winter.

Spray Lindane outside of the house and the corners of the kitchen, but do not breath this stuff. You will have to open your windows and vacate your home for a few hours to let it dry up. I would stay gone for about five hours myself.
It works on all bugs and they will check out!

I call those bugs Ughy Buggys! Ugh! They are a type of weevil, I think and are attracted to flour, cereals, pasta, ect...They enter the product after they are opened...Keep them in an air-tight container after opening ...I also refridgerate my flour and pastas to keep this from happening

I don't know what they are,but you can call an exterminator (a trustworthy on), and get those little buggers dead.OR you can get a Raid bug bomb (i'm not sure if it's only in the US), then plce it in where they are and follow the directions carefuly, and stay out of the home for a couple of days for a vacation or something.
