After any chance of freeze is over you can plant. Spring rains will help establishing a root system before the heat of summer sets in.

Growing grass requires cool weather. Plant it when the nights are around 50 degrees, spring or fall. If you plant in the fall the grass will look patchy for the winter but will survive. Water twice a day with a hand held sprinkler so you don't push the seed around or you could have heavy and bare spots.

Hello there you can plant grass anytime of the year. Not if you live where it snows or freeze. there is two kinds of grass that you can not plant in the winter is bermunda grass and st. augustine grass. It depends on where you live and the temperature the grass that I mention might be available but not sure. The grasses that I like to use is Blue grass, fescue grass. I like to use grasses that stays green all year around.
