One likes to stay up by the filters. Between the filter and the side of the tank. You can't even see him. We have a large tank(15-20gal.) They aren't aggresive or anything. They have both been eating. I'm just worried that he may be dieing? He does come out and swims around if you tap on the tank. But he will go right back. What's going on?

How long has your tank been running? is it cycled? Sometimes when the ammonia levels spike due to a new tank the fish are looking to get to distance themselves from the source.

Test the ammonia level in your tank. This could be part of the problem.

Also, new fish until they get acclimated to their new home, will look to hide that way they can see "what else" is in the area they are in.

Check the water. If it is fine, your fish no doubt is just getting his bearings.

If you find your ammonia is high, do a partial water change. Test again. This is the only way to control ammonia spikes in your tank.

Exactly how many fish do you have in this "15-20" gallon tank other than two goldfish. Just from the fact that you have two goldfish in a tank that size, I'd say it is full, but I get the impression there are others. Also exactly how big is the tank? If you don't know, how wide, tall and deep does it measure out to so I can figure out the volume myself... Thanks.
When you say cleaned it out, do you mean a 100% water change? Then the tank is cycling, way overloaded and yes the fishing is dieing from ammonia poisoning.

Sounds like he is just a little afraid of the extreme change of scenery. He is just doing what's natural. Hiding. Try getting maybe a decoration w/ something he can hide behind or in. Live or fake plants are also good. The goal is to make him feel secure. But before you spend the money, give him a few days to adjust. He may come out of it. If he doesn't after about a week, then you should. Hope this helps, and good luck!!!!!

properly u bearly were given them so that they could be lower than pressure out slightly from the bypass i reccomend a higher fish tank with filtration you need to get a ten gallon fish tank i have been given one from petsmart for 10$ merely yet with out clear out merely save an eye fixed on them in the journey that they stay down there for alot of days then you definately should be fearful my goldfish stayed contained in the bottom of the tank the first day and the subsequent they were swimming thankfully solid success

You are watching them too closely, they are just doing what comes naturally.IT is NOT PROPER to tap on a fish aquarium ,it upsets and alarms the fish. You can simulate what it feels like to the fish by placing earmuffs on your ears and the placing a pot or pail over you head and banging on it with a drumstick or piece of wood- not enjoyable!

Um... here's a tip. Cover the filter and the pump with mesh netting. ONe of my larger ones had a fin sucked up into the pump and tore off and died :( andanother one got pregnant, and 3 of its tiny fish went RIGHT INTO the pump and never came back again (Just kiddding, they died of stuck in the pump :(
SO you'd better do it ASAP!

He may be stressed! just give him time. if he never gets over it, it might just be his personality..... Tapping on the glass can also scar or even stress the fish!!!

Don't get goldfish. They are real stupid and die in a matter of hours. Trust me.
