the records alway show my old dial up number and I cannot remove it... it is listed as my primary email number.

Completely uninstall Peoplepc softwares using Add/Remove Programs.

If you haven't uninstalled People PC, do it now, then restart your computer, that should correct your problem. If not, do as suggested, call Comcast. The info is stored in your registry and must be cleaned out.
To uninstall it, you can do so by choosing [Start] -> [Settings] -> [Control Panel] -> [Add/Remove Programs], and choosing the "People PC".
I use Comcast and they are pretty good if you explain the problem clearly.

Contact Comcast and explain the problem. As your provider they should talk you through setting up all your connections correctly.

delete the account, and uninstall people pc
