can I do?

He thought the cat (always indoors) would like the snow and ice, put a harness on him and had him slipping around out there "skating" trying to make a funny video ... probably for about a half an hour to an hour.

He finally brings the cat back in the house, and the cat is limping and can barely walk .. he calls me all in a panic! I'm visiting my friend for the weekend 3 hours away.

I told him to take the cat to the vet immediately, but he refuses because it's the weekend and doesn't have the money to pay the emergency vet.

Help, anyone know what I can do?

Smack your husband! It sounds like the cat is in some serious pain. He really should bring the cat to the vet before any serious complications come about from the frostbite. It may be cheaper to go now and have the vet give the cat some salve for his feet, rather than down the road when it can get very expensive if his pads become infected. You should never subject an animal to cold weather conditions like that for as long as he was out there. If you don't want to be out there in your bare feet, don't bring out the cat!

Too late for answers by now as what damage there is, is done. If frostbitten and there is damage, see a vet to remove parts to avoid gangrene or other illness. Money-wise... as much as we feel for our pets, I come from a culture/society where there are no pets, animals are seen as working family members who hunt for their food (kill mice, tarantulas, scorpions, centipedes, etc.) for survival, as such no money is spent on them due to our sentiments- money goes for our survival and people in general. Not good or bad, just different from your culture!

tell your husband that he shouldn;t bring the cat ice skating and that he should know better and that he should pay the money because your cat is hurt badly and needs professional help.
