The 2 best times to plant grass is fall and spring. If the temps are not getting out of the upper 70's yet, now is a good time, but make sure the night time temps are hovering near freezing. If you don't mind the mess, put out the grass seed, use a starter fertilizer, and then lightly cover with wheat straw and in about 2 weeks the seeds should be germinating and growing. Do not cut your yard for 2 to 3 weeks until the grass has had a chance to come up and strengthen. If you cut before hand, you will stress the grass and fight to keep it rest of the year.
