Every person will react differently to meds. I have used orthotricyclen and seasonale; both did not do well for me at all. I had a lot of problems with them. I'm now on Mircette. I take the generic Kariva. It works really well for me. I take my last active pill on Saturday and I don't start until Wednesday night/Thursday morning. I get very little cramping, I'm only heavy for about a day or two (I used to be heavy 7+ full days before I got on this one. It was horrible!), and I'm usually off by Sunday. A lot of my friends like Yaz Like I said, everyone will react differently.

I use NuvaRing and I don't think I've gained weight and I've never had spotting. In terms of "weight gain" listed as a side effect, the hormones don't make you gain weight, but they can make you want to eat more (like when you're pmsing). All you have to do to not gain weight is not eat more than you do now. Spotting is a very individual thing, but I've never had it. Anyway, all forms of hormonal birth control could cause these, because it has to do with the hormones, not the delivery method.

it depends on what kind of b/c you are seeking. you are going to have side effects with any b/c you use. the difference in the side effects depends on the levels of hormones in the b/c method. some of the side effects are temporary until your body gets used to using the method. here are a couple of methods you should look into. pills, patch, nuvaring, depo shot, iud

Depo is horrendous, I would never recommend it. Esp since it gives you weight gain and mood swings and spotting.

I am currently on Kariva and have had NO weight gain or spotting or mood swings.
