Just bought my first bike a Honda CLR125, but i haven't got a hand book for it yet. I want to check the oil level but am unsure of the correct way to read it. Do You a) have to screw the dipstick in to the engine case & then undo it to get the level OR b) Unscrew the dip stick & sit it on the top of the thread. May seem a silly "Q" but one way it will be at the MAX mark & the other way it reads MIN mark. Hope i 'v explained it clearly.

You screw it in to get the correct reading. Happy riding.

The Frog a bit below me has got it wrong. You do have to screw it in.

When the engine is cold - unscrew the dipstick and wipe off the oil.

Dip it back in to the neck, (B), where it is ready to screw in (but don't), then withdraw it and check where the level reads.

A little 'extra' oil won't do any harm (may be a bit smokey) but don't let it fall below the 'minimum'.
