category 5 cable two twisted pairs encased in shielded jacket forget the distance but I think it is 220 feet capability of use.

The total length of twisted pair wire segments between a PC and a hub or between two PC's should not exceed 100 Meters (329 feet or about the length of a football field) for 100BASE-TX or 10BASE-T cable runs.

CAT5E, ethernet, 4 twisted pairs running at 1000mbps.
It is 4 twisted pairs not 2. Two pairs is for POTS. dial-up service.
