they have funerals ,when one dies all the others walk by in a line and touch the body to say goodbye

they remember things
they are very social ,all adults babysit the young also other elephants babies

they have a guard schedule where big adults take turns to guard the herd

crocodile are reptiles ,they eat crocodiles that are smaller if they can ,they have no social habits

a crocodiles brain is about the size of one of your fingers (and yes that's for a big crocodile). an elephant's brain is bigger than yours is. take a guess as to which one is smarter.

Yes I'd say it is more intelligent than a crocodile because it is a mammal a cocodile is a reptile

Intelligence of animals is connected to their relative brain surface...

It's not the size that matters it's the shape of the big brain...
Mammals' brain is much more evolved than reptiles' and is much more adaptable.

Predators are more adaptable than herbivores but the first statement is much stronger.

The elephant is more intelligent.

It is obvious.
They live in a family and have strong family ties.They follow some order.They even recognise bones of their dead members.
Crocs protect their eggs and forget their offspring after a few days.

Frankly i think you have to look at it from their daily lives of how they are in their environment to see how smart they can truly be. You have to observe their actions when hunting, or how they take care of themselves. YOu can also find the differences between them when it comes to making decisions about proctecting their cubs, or how strategically they are when it comes to getting what they want. really its all about observing
