To be honest, i think that the answers only go to vote when the person who asked the question forgets to vote for best answer.....
This has happened with me.......... and i will tell you how....
i asked a question, and i have only recieved 2 or 3 answers. some good, some not so good, but i wanted to hold on a little bit longer to see if any body else would answer...........then because i have a life outside of Y!A, i forget to vote for the best one when the question expires..
Dont know if anyone else can relate to what i am saying.... I can understand where a lot of you people are coming from, but you all need to understand that people dont spend there entire lives on here, and might just miss the deadline to vote.
As i told my own personal story now, will i get awarded 10 points for the best answer???

Yes *sobs* Make me feel more guilty now why don't you ! have done in it the past and letting it go to vote as i couldn't decide which was the best answer as there were so many good ones .. But i put a question up the other day which made me decide against it and that the fact that people when the browse undecided just go for the top answer which on most occasions is the wrong answer! So now i take my time and choose for myself . although it is hard @ times *sighs* ...
P.S James , calm down dear .You will give yourself an hernia !.. See i have given you a star to show you how much i care about you !!

No. It simply means that others are exercising their right to ignore my suggestions and advice. Even in areas in which I'm the expert with two advanced degrees and over forty years of experience, people have the right to reject what I say. It may indeed cost them dearly - but again, that's their right. Yes, at times I'm tempted to e-mail someone who does that and argue with them, but that's really pointless. You can take what I say and base future decisions on it, or you can do something else - even regarding this very answer. You can even call me names and say what a fool I am, but y'know - I'll just cringe all the way to the bank!

No.
People on here vote for the most accurate, or best written answers. If they think that someone who has answered with just a word or two accurately answered the question, or put it in a format easier to read/understand, then why the hell not?

no, why should anybody feel used, your not forced to be here, or forced to vote for question. Its a sort of democracy. I get riled occasionally when some uptight idiot reports me for abuse, when my answer simply promotes an opinion they do not agree with, as Yahoo is too lazy to actually read my answer to see if the report was justified or not...

I hate when it goes to vote. Sometimes I do bother actually trying and I totally feel ripped off when the asker didn't bother. It's worth at least giving someone the points for answering.

What irks me more is the people who are tying to find someone and they give a name. I punch the name in zaba search and the people are listed-phone and all, I tell them where to look and then the question goes to voting-I mean if you are trying to find someone, wouldn't you keep checking back to the answer, especially if someone has found your person??

yes it does. I write alot on answers and then it goes into voting. Once it gets into voting i am never the one who wins. Sometimes i just have little answers because the larger answers are no use.

its the effort that counts in trying to give the best answer. The reward is in the points and the fact that the questioner may have found it useful. not the best answer award, a mere bonus.

It irks me, especially when I have composed my own material, supported with factual data, and someone with a cut and paste wikipedia job has more votes. Or, when you know someone has given a response that needs to be shoveled, but the asker thinks that one is the winner.
