He's blackmailing you into staying with him with that poor, sad, "I'm so miserable, if you leave me I'm moving far far away and you'll never never see me again!" If you encourage this kind of behavior, next he'll be threatening suicide. Tell him that there is nothing he can change or do, you're simply interested in seeing other people, and you'd hate to see him leave, but if he must, then good luck and best wishes and pip-pip. Do not let him manipulate you with this poor pitiful me act. Be strong and stand for what you believe in.

I don't think you should break up with him because he's miserable in Florida. I think you should break up with him because you want to break up with him! Don't keep dating someone because you feel sorry for him, if you know that it's not gonna work out. You've already told him about wanting to break up, so just reiterate your feelings, and that you don't see any point in dragging it out for another 3 weeks. You'll be happier, and he'll be happier wherever he's moving to. Sounds like a pretty good outcome to me...

to me it seems that he is trying to get you to go back with him through a form of bribery. but it is your choice to give in or not. i honestly think you should break up with him if you don't think the relationship is going to last. if you don't want to be with someone than don't do it. because be live me if he doesn't want to be with you he will leave now. girl let him go where he will be happy and free for someone else to give a chance. and if you mattered so much to him then he wouldn't even have said that thing about living with his father

I have to agree with everything Yoko Meezer said. Trust me...you don't want to continue on with a guy who uses these tactics. A friend of mine's boyfriend (and she was 34 at the time!) did nearly this exact same thing...."I'm miserable because I want to please you. I'm only doing it for it." And yes, he did threaten to commit suicide (never happened), and he did throw her up against a wall when she finally said, "I'm leaving you."

Well, as it turns out, his wife (before my friend) had divorced him because he was abusive, he was denied any further custody of his child (by the wife) because he was abusive, and he ended up in jail because he abused the girlfriend he had after my friend.

Follow your instincts. Get out while you can.

He is trying to threaten you and manipulate you into not breaking up with him.
If you don't think it is working then break up, it is better for you to be apart and happy than together and sad. If he doesn't want to be here and he says you're whats keeping him here (AND its not working...) then he is probably better off leaving.

He is just trying to force you to feel bad for him so you will stay with him. If you aren't happy then just tell him you are sorry, and things just aren't going to work out.

Don't prolong the inevitable. If you don't think it will last and he is miserable anyway, let him go now.
