Know that 1 inch = 2.54 cm

Since multiplying by 1 gives you the same value solve conversions by multiplying by a fraction equal to 1, and having the units cancel out.

For example:

To convert 3 feet = __________ cm

3 feet * 12 in / 1 foot * 2.54 cm / 1 in

Notice that each fraction is equal to 1 so the final result must be the same lenght, just expressed differently.

Feet cancel out.
Inches cancels out.
You are left with cm

(3 *12 * 2.54 ) cm

91.44 cm is the answer.

100cms= 1 metre 1kg = 1000 g.
1000 m = 1 km. 1 lbs= 454 g.
