There are countless articles and books on this phenomenon, which we could likely call "precognition", or "deja vu". I've studied such "supernatural" gifts, as a kind of hobby, most of my life. Based upon my experiences, I'd have to say that it's not uncommon, but that most people never realize when it happens to them.
Some people have dreams that they don't remember, at least in the dream's entirety, and so might miss out on something like what happened to you.
Others just never make the connection, while others may deny it outright, and bury the experience, likely out of fear.
I feel that a great many people, perhaps even all of humanity, have such gifts, but just don't know how to tap into them.
I wouldn't be concerned, if that is an underlying feeling for you. I think you had a glimpse, however brief, of a wonderful ability. You may never have this happen again, or you may.
Whether you choose to develop the gift is entirely up to you.
Either way, yes, I'd say that, while uncommon to have the dream AND make the connection, it is "normal". Common, no. Normal, yes.
