there must be at least one admin account available...windows requires that
if you don't the password or access to an admin acct then boot into safe mode. You can select administrator user on login....it's a seperate admin acct resident in XP and doesn't require a password. Then go in and upgrade your other accounts.

there has to still be an admin account on the pc.....if yours is a limited account and the only other one that shows up in the sigin is also a limited account then the admin account is hidden....boot into safe mode (press f8 during bootup) select safe mode with networking....then you should see the admin account(s)...login and go to the users area of the control panel and then you can change the settings....reboot and away you go.

Try to see if you can get a hold of some CD's that can change the User Accounts. Two example are Winternal's ERD Commander and Hirem's Boot Disc. They are troubleshooting tools that offer a variety of tools that a computer technician can use to solve some problems, one being changing the account type and passwords.

to unlock it, you would need to use the "secret Administration" account, to access this, restart your computer, press F8 right after it started, till you get to the Boot Menu, select Safe Mode, then log in with this 'secret' Admin account. Then go to User Account in Control Panel, you can either change both account to Admin priv. again or pick one and have it to be Admin, then restart your computer. Log in with the one you just set as Admin. That's it :)

boot into safe mode, log in as Administrator (unless you created one, the password should be blank)
while in safe mode, change the accounts you need changed.
if you can't get in this way, you will need a password reset disk.
