You have to be very careful when using any chemicals on a Marble Floor. Harsh Chemicals can eat at the Marble, leaving it dull and permanent stains. The best thing to use is White Vinegar and water, with a little bit of Dawn Dish Soap for any grease that may be accumulated if in a Kitchen area. The White Vinegar and water will clean the Marble floor and also leave a Natural Shiine.

Whatever you do, don't use anything acidic or alkaline on it. Vinegar is actually not a good thing as it is very acidic. I have a polished marble floor in my kitchen (that I put down a year ago) and it is a battle to keep it shiny as being a high traffic area and a soft stone; it marks easily. There are marble cleaners available at Home Depot (and the like) that are neutral in ph that work well to clean it. As far as the shine is concerned, clean it and then seal it with a marble sealer (also at home depot) and this will help keep the shine. I am watching mine carefully and if it starts to wear badly, I will regrettably rip it all up and put down granite instead. Granite is brutally hard and will resist wear better. Ihope I didn't make a mistake with marble but the tiles are beautiful and I couldn't resist... at the time.

Zelda, where do you get Terra Care? I would like to try it out!
Good Luck!

Ordinary dust particles will obscure the natural beauty and appearance of your marble or polished natural stone. Dry-dust surfaces regularly using a soft, non oily cloth or cloth mop.
Wash Marble surfaces with cool, clean water. Mop or wipe with mild cleaning solution using short overlapping strokes. Rinse thoroughly with clear water to avoid streaks or soapy build-up. Vinegar chemically reacts with the calcium carbonate in marble and strips the shine. Permanently etching the surface. Use gentle, neutral cleaners. There are good neutral stone floor cleaners on the market, use one of these

I use this great cleaner for marble called Terra Care.
Do not scrub!!!! You will scratch it...

Marble is very porous, so as soon as you spill something clean it up right away.
