It depends how fickle you want to get with the definition of "factory". There are a surprising number of car manufacturers in the UK.

And would a car PARTS factory count?

Off the top of my head, I can think of MINI (Oxford), TVR (Blackpool), Rolls Royce (Goodwood), Bentley (Crewe), Lotus (Hethel), Nissan (Washington, Tyne and Wear), Jaguar (Coventry), Land Rover (Solihull), Morgan (Bloxham).

I know there are lots of smaller-unit car makers.......try the site below.

none... we no longer manufacture motorcars, or motorcycles, we assemble them.

when i was leaving school in 1974 in coventry i coul dhave taken my pick of where i wanted to work, we had maybe 15 car manufacturers, and god knows how many small firms doing subcontract work...

now, these sites are most housing estates with poncy names... daimler village... bonneville close,

as joni mitchell said.. you dont know what youve got til its gone.... they take paradise and put up a parking lot...

they take all the cars and put em in a car museum... and they let the folks in for free -- just to see em...

(coventrys road transport museum is free, and it shows our heritage...and our loss.
