I have XP and Media Player 10 so what else do I need to see MPEG files ?

Get AceMegaCodecsPack. With it you can play any type of video. You can download it free from this website:

Nothing. They should play in Media Player if you open the files. IF they don't work, then you would need to obtain a set of encoders to actually play the video. But normally, you should have the encoders in Windows Media Player 10 so it should play with no problems. If the file doesn't play, even when you know it should, maybe the file is corrupt and you will have to get another copy of the file (a working one that is).

Once you locate the file, you can right click on it and then select "open with" which would show you some options. click on "choose program" which would display several programs on your computer, then click on media player then select "Ok"
The MPEG program would now play no problem.

It should be fine as it is, but if you still can't see MPEG files you might consider installing some video codescs.

As an alternative you might try VLC player. Just install it and it will play your movies.

Try clicking on library select video. Perhaps you may have it set to play music
