I work part time, and have been with the same company for 4 years. I need to leave straight away, i am meant to give 4 weeks notice. I have got a job that i have to start straight away, but i dont want to tell my current job this. What can i say why i want to leave immediatley, and where will i stand with my pay, will they have to pay me for the last month as i would be braking the contract.

they have to pay you for any work you have done... if you have any outstanding leave they may pay you for that. honesty is the best policy... speak to someone in charge... tell them you would have given notice but the other company wouldn't hold the job for you. tell them why you need the other job more than the one you have. good luck

Just give them the required notice and indicate that you are going to a company that is a competitor. They will or should ask you to leave right away and they all would have to pay you for the notice period. Otherwise just give them the shortest notice that you need and tell them that you are wanted to start straight away and that your heart or effort would not be in the job you are leaving..

it depends upon the language of the contract- if it says that you will owe them a penalty if you leave or not. They do not have to pay you for work you didn't do, but unless there is a penalty written into the contract- they must pay you for what you worked. Tell your job asap that you are leaving, and take a good look at your contract.

Better if you can work out a mutual agreement with the 2 employers. You don't want to leave a company on bad terms, and it sounds like the new company really wants to hire you--they may be willing to wait or to compromise.

In terms of your benefits after you leave, it is different in each country, and each state and province, so best if you consult your local ministry of labour.

You really should have enough respect for your employers to tell them why you need to leave without giving notice. there must be at least 1 person you can talk too. Anyway, good luck with the new job. Hope it turns out well for you.
