When it comes to the world of computers, the more money you put into the system, the better it usually is. You would have to invest some money to get your own PC. You can get some pretty decent Dell systems for like 600+ dollars. You can order just the tower for 300+. Just remember that when you purchase a new computer, nowadays they come with Vista, and for gaming, Vista is one of the worst operating systems out there nowadays. If you're playing games like FEAR and Half-Life (that require lots of power) it would probably be cheaper to build a system with a good gaming card. The better your system, the better your games will look.

Dell are pretty good value for money, but for laptops / desktops I get them from Euro PC. I've bought kit from these guys loads of times, and you can pick up a decent desktop for £250, and laptops start around £350.

Ebay if you're adventurous. otherwise try discount web dealers like newegg.com. They're good if you want to build a PC also, which is another option if you're on a budget. If you want to play modern games, though, you're going to need something more than the cheapest computer you find.

ebay, ur local news paper (is good because u get to see it before u buy it) and pawn shops. u can get computers from about £279 from Dell which is good as its new, though will just be a standard pc, the extras will always cost more! hope that helps.

how much would you willing to pay for? I assumed you're live in US, then computers are very cheap nowaday, you can get a very good new one for $299.

compare prices on Kelkoo. Look at Gumtree to see if anyone is selling/giving one away.
