What is the highest pitch count for a no-hitter in MLB history? It is tough to find boxscores with pitch counts.

That's a tough one. Unless you were willing to research all the box scores I'm not sure how else you could find out. The one game I am familiar with is Don Larson's perfect game in game 5 of the 1956 World Series. Larson threw 97 pitches in beating the Brooklyn Dodgers that day. You might want to break it down between perfect no-hitters verses non perfect no-hitters. I'm sure it's makes a difference.

The highest pitch count I can find is 141.

I performed a query at baseball-references's pitching gamelog finder, and in modern era, the most pitches thrown in a no hitter happened in 2001 in San Diego when A.J. Burnett threw a no-hitter.

His line score was 9 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 9 BB, 7 SO. Amazingly, only 69 of those pitches were strikes.

The Fish also committed three errors in that game, essentially giving Burnett 30 outs to make. Looking at the play by play, the Padres had several chances to get runs, with runners on the corners with two outs twice, but failed both times.

I remember Andy Hawkins pitched a no-hitter in the 90's for the Yankees, but lost the game. He walked a few people, and had a high pitch count. He could be near the top of the list.

In 1938, Johnny Vander Meer became the only pitcher to pitch back to back no hitters on June 11 and again on June 15. The Reds pitcher did it to the Boston Braves then against the Brooklyn Dodgers. This feat may be equaled someday but never broken. I bet his pitch count was pretty high also.
