Well I have had cancer twice and the only thing you think of is how you can get rid of it. Although neither of them were terminal,they could have been if not treated soon enough.

Well, once I've gotten over the initial surprise, and discussed treatment options and time frames with my doctor, then I'd tell those people who are closest and most important to me.
From there, depending on the circumstances, start getting my affairs in order, to some degree.
And, at some point, find somewhere private to take a moment, and have a damned good cry.

Probably go into shock, then denial. It took my parents and other family members, so I've seen how aggressive it can be. 3 of my brothers had cancer scares within a few months, so I just try to live life without thinking about it knocking on my door
