Hi
I purchased Vista ultimate for system builders and I was wondering what is going on with this version.
For example if I reformat the hard drive and install this version is it going to ask me for reactivation?
Thank you

Of course it is.
More so, all Vista PCs are regularly verified for authenticity by the Microsoft servers.

The only way you obtained this version of Vista legally is if you are a certified Microsoft partner.
It is called the "RTM" (Release To Manufacturers) version.

A pirated RTM version of the DVD was leaked & illegally posted on the web some months ago.

The only way to purchase this version is directly from Microsoft. If that's what you did you should not be asking this question because your license with them includes any number of redistributable (& authentic) keys for activation to include with the PCs your "company" builds.

In all likelihood, yes. Because you have wiped out any information that corresponds to the previous activation. You should be able to activate as many times as you like on the same computer.
If you are a system builder and installing on different computers you will still need to purchase separate licenses for each computer you install Vista on.

Hey

This could be the cause of an older windows XP version that you have earlier installed on the oder hard drive(s).

Try formating all you drives, and then try reinstalling Vista and see what happens.
