Best thing to do is stop relying on your home for entertainment and the next care package. Calling home all the time and checking your email takes time away from you learning and experiencing your new surroundings.

get out there, socialize, and experience. best place is usually a party or a club. even if you don't drink alcohol you can always have a coke.

also you could find a boyfriend/girlfriend. they will introduce you to their friends...

There is no easy way to cope with homesickness and loneliness when studying away from home. One way is to concentrate on studies and not always think of home. Try to make new friends and maintain a healthy balance between studying, playing and socializing.

I got lots of letters and phone calls from my parents and sister, went home once every 3 or so months, and would get a care package 2 or 3 times a year (which was nice!). As for the boring factor, I don't drink much, so I do lots of biking, reading, crafts and I have 2 part time jobs. No time to be bored!!
