People disagree on the answer to your question. In most other countries it is believed to be reality but it is more hotly debated here. Wikipedia does a good overview:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warming
Personally I think it is happening and that it is controllable.

The weather is changing and the rate of change is or appears to be very fast. This makes adapation to the new circumstances more difficult. Everyone needs to understand
Why is it changing?
The mechanism of the change?
Resources are then deployed to discover that may be CO2 - a greenhouse gas which contributes to global warming. - Solution stop using fossil fuels - ahh!!! not very popular - the entire world economy is built on manufacturing and car usage and growth.
What about other greenhouse gasses - more potent than CO2 - yes methane CH4 - god help us when we release that one.

This is a good programme to watch - will need about 50mins but it does sort a lot of stuff - in the myth / reality stakes

The causes are complex and the interactions are even more complex - best described as chaos theory to fully understand
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaos_theory
Survival depends on the ability to adapt to changed / new circumstances. The drive for change will have to come from all of "the little people" deciding to take individual actions and make behavioural changes - this is the essence of chaos theory
The ability to adapt is not being driven by our political leaders - they are generally just pygmies and totally out of their depth. To them global warming is just an excuse to increase our taxes.
Global warming is a myth - remember 20 years ago it was global cooling
Rapidly changing climate is a reality

It is absolutely indisputabole that global warming is occuring, but the causes are disputed, and in particular the role of human pollution.
Whether it is mainly us or mainly a natural cycle its bad news for us. In the 300,000 years or so that modern man has existed on Earth, only in the last 5,000 has the climate been sufficiently benign for civilization to develop and flourish. It is almost certain that it will not survive a change to a less benign climate.
It amazes me that the global warming deniers do not grasp this very simple point. The cause is far less important than the effect.

Global warming is a leftist myth created to cause alarm so people like you take the blame and feel bad while the hypocrites drive personal jets around to their five houses. There is no science to it, it's all political. The liberals can give evidence of global cooling if they want to, but i guess that doesn't go to well with the issue of fossil fuels. Think for yourself and don't take this myth seriously.

I think that we are speeding up the inevitable, the question should possibly be, should we do anything about it, as we are more equipped to deal with it, or should we let nature take its course?
