If your TV has a VGA-in port (usually labeled "Computer") then yes, you need a male-male cable (pins on both sides). Make sure the video resolution you're using will work with the tv, though. If you have a high-def tv, the HD rating is usually the vertical resolution (ie, a 1080p tv should be able to display 1280x1024, any higher and the tv won't display anything except an error).

Good question. First off a VGA cord (Standard VGA line Cable) which connects your computer to your monitor would work, if your TV has a standard VGA connection available. There are two problems with that. If you are wanting to connect it to an HDTV your best bet is to have a Video Card that has HDMI or DVI outputs and run them to your TV. This is simply to combat signal degradation since VGA is an analog signal and DVI is a pure digital signal the longer the cable is with VGA is going to degrade due to length. However with DVI it's digital so it only has to get a signal regardless of how week and you'll still get a perfectly clear picture, not withstanding the fact that you can still have disconnects at very long lengths. I would suggest getting a video card with TV Out (Either composite (RCA Video Out) or S-Video ports) and then possibly running it through a converter box to reach your TV. The cost of a 30ft DVI cable is generally in the range of about $120 and I'm sure a VGA cable will be about the same whereas you can obtain a converter and 30ft of Coax cable for around about $60. Although I just found a VGA cable that's 30ft for $16.49. Link below.

Correct, as long as the port on the TV is a VGA input you just need a long enough VGA cable and then select the VGA input on the TV.

Yes. Once you do it you will have to change your video properties to allow an alternate display. You can access this by pressing right click on your desktop backfground> then properties>then hit the settings tab on the top right corner>then click on advanced at the bottom right corner. This should bring you to ur graphics card properties where u can select an alternate display. I hope this helps.
