The rules governing the number and size of sponsors logos on shirts are laid down by the controlling body of each league, and not by FIFA. So the law differs in different countries.

No there is no rule stating that you can only have 1 shirt sponsor.

French teams have 3 or 4 sponsors on their shirts.

No rules. It's a regular thing in France and becoming more common in the UK. Most confusing was a Russian UEFA cup team a few years ago where they only had one sponsor per shirt but they were all different.

Technnically speaking, a lot of teams have two on a jersey. i.e. Manchester United, AIG is a main sponsor but they do have the Nike logo in the upper chest area.

most teams have at least two......
the principle sponsor and the equipment manufacturer although, sometimes they are one and the same, such as Bolton and rebook
